This is my first blog truly, 100% dedicated to getting to a baby. I’ve written about our process on other blogs, never truly comfortable with the mix of babydom with the rest of my personal life. I’m dedicating this blog solely to babydom. I’m not sure why, it’s just the right thing this time around.
We’ve been through a fair amount of treatments and events: Clomid, a blighted ovum, IUI, IVF (1 cancelled, 1 failed). A few months later, to our in-your-face-IVF-doctah glee, we found ourselves with a natural pregnancy that was doomed from the start (Trisonomy 9 – or was it 13?) Whatever, it ended at 9.5 weeks and I had a D&C a few weeks after that — and survived TWO, not one but TWO, non-medicated shots to the cervix in the process. I get Major Infertility Props for that one, eh girls…?
After that joyride, we tried some antibiotic therapy from a doctor in NY who I now think might be a quack, followed a few months later by a very early and heavy period that was most likely a natural miscarriage, and then stick a fork in us, we were done. We took a long hiatus until now.
I think the next steps are either donor egg, donor embryo or adoption. We cannot fathom ourselves as a couple without children, so something has to happen.
Join me for the journey, won’t you? It’s sure to be an interesting ride.
